BROWN LAW GROUP: San Diego, CA September 1999 to present - Owner of Brown Law Group (including its predecessor, Vantage Law Group) Janice P. Brown is the founder of Brown Law Group, a seven-lawyer law firm focused on business and employment litigation. Brown Law Group prides itself in assisting its clients in litigation avoidance strategies, practicing preventative law. Ms. Brown specializes in employment law and in general civil litigation. She represents clients with employment issues such as wrongful termination, race, and sex discrimination claims, and sexual harassment claims. As part of her employment practice, Ms. Brown conducts training and investigations of employee misconduct and discrimination for her clients. In addition to employment matters, Ms. Brown also handles intellectual property, fraud and contract cases for a variety of clients. Ms. Brown has tried numerous cases to verdict and argued successfully before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, including class actions.
SELTZER CAPLAN WILKINS & MCMAHON: San Diego, CA April 1988 – September 1999 - Partner Joining Seltzer Caplan in 1988, Ms. Brown became a partner in 1992 and part of the firm’s executive committee in 1995. While at Seltzer, Ms. Brown headed up the firm’s business development committee.
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, TAX DIVISION - HONOR'S PROGRAM: Washington, D.C. April 1984 – April 1988 – Trial Attorney Ms. Brown was a trial attorney with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., recruited out of law school into the Justice’s Honor Program in Tax. At Justice, Ms. Brown tried lawsuits on behalf of the United States in venues throughout the western United States, including Iowa, Colorado, Nebraska, California and Texas. |

Ms. Brown has been a speaker on employment and diversity related topics and has appeared on television segments relating to Sexual Harassment, Wrongful Termination, Email Policies & Internet Use, Dating in the Workplace and Recent Developments in Employment/Labor Laws. She has been a featured guest on the TV segment "Making It;" on CBS (San Diego affiliate), NBC (San Diego affiliate); ABC (San Diego affiliate); FOX News (San Diego affiliate) and KUSI Morning News. In addition, Ms. Brown has published several articles on employment and related issues and regularly conducts employment-related training seminars for management and non-management personnel. |

Ms. Brown is married to Lt. Col David Fennell, United States Marine Corps. They live in Kensington, San Diego. In addition to running Brown Law Group, Ms. Brown is actively involved in the legal community and community at large. Ms. Brown is in the House of Delegates for the American Bar Association and is involved in other committees within the ABA. In addition, Ms. Brown is a Master with Enright Inn of Court and a Past President of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association and a Vice President of the San Diego County Bar Association. While in college, Ms. Brown took 3 months and traveled as a member of the USO, touring Korea, Okinawa, Guam and the Philippines. |
