Super Lawyers Names Brown Law Group Attorneys Tara M. Duester, Luis E. Lorenzana, Noah J. Woods as a Rising Star

The Southern California Super Lawyers – San Diego Edition has selected Attorneys Tara M. Duester, Luis E. Lorenzana and Noah J. Woods as a Rising Stars for 2015.   Each year no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.

Ms. Duester, who earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association Labor & Employment Law Section, and Young New Lawyers Division and serves as the newsletter editor for the Lawyers Club of San Diego. As a long-time member of this organization, she also devotes time to the Professional Advancement Committee and the Community Outreach Committee, which strives to improve the lives and status of women and children in San Diego through hands-on projects and partnerships with groups such as the Lawyers Club Partnership in Education with Central Elementary School which includes twice-yearly Read-Ins where volunteers read, interact, promote literacy and serve as role models to underprivileged K-5 children.

Before joining Brown Law Group, Mr. Lorenzana managed his own litigation firm that focused on complex commercial disputes in state and federal courts.  Mr. Lorenzana represented corporations, public agencies, entrepreneurs and individuals from a wide range of industries, including the biotechnology, land development, international food distribution, high-technology and pharmaceutical industries.  He counseled these clients in intellectual property, real estate, contract and various tort disputes.  Notably, Mr. Lorenzana recently second chaired a multi-million dollar, international business dispute in federal court with McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, in which his corporate clients obtained a defense verdict and a significant attorney fee award.  He earned his J.D, with honors from The George Washington University School of Law.  In 2011 and 2012, Mr. Lorenzana was nominated for The Daily Transcript Young Attorneys distinction.

Mr. Woods represents employers in areas of traditional labor law, including grievance arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges, union contract negotiations and other union-related matters. In addition, Mr. Woods defends employers in all areas of employment-related litigation, including claims of wrongful termination, retaliation, discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of contract, and violations of wage and hour laws. Mr. Woods handles labor and employment matters at both the state and federal level, as well as before administrative agencies such as the NLRB, EEOC, DFEH and DLSE.

Prior to joining Brown Law Group, Mr. Woods worked at the Jordan Law Group, a management-side labor and employment law firm, defending clients in labor and employment-related claims in federal and California state courts, the NLRB, EEOC, DFEH and DLSE, and in labor related grievance arbitrations. He also counseled clients on labor & employment law matters, including union contract negotiations and union organizing campaigns. He earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco, School of Law.
